Make a copy of Calendar Timesheet
Early access. While Google reviews the Google Workspace Marketplace listing, Calendar Timesheet comes as a ready-made sheet with the add-on built in. You copy it into your own Google Drive; from then on it belongs to you and runs only in your account.
Step by step
- Make a copy. The button above opens Google Sheets and asks "Copy document?". Click Make a copy. The copy lands in your Google Drive.
- Open the add-on. In your copy, open the menu Extensions, then Calendar Timesheet, then Open. If the menu is not there yet, wait a few seconds or reload the page.
- Authorise it. Google shows "Authorisation required". Click Continue and pick your Google account.
- Get past Google's warning. Google shows "Google hasn't verified this app". Click Advanced, then Go to Calendar Timesheet (unsafe). The section below explains why this screen appears.
- Review the permissions listed by Google and click Allow. The table below says what each one is for.
- Run the setup. The panel opens on the right: tick your calendars, name your clients, turn on autopilot.
Why Google shows a warning
When you copy a sheet that contains a script, the copy and its script belong to you. Google shows the same warning for every script it has not reviewed, including the ones people write for themselves. It does not mean anything was found wrong.
You can read every line of the code before allowing it: in your copy, open Extensions, then Apps Script. The version published on the Google Workspace Marketplace goes through Google's verification; once it is live, you will be able to install it from there instead, and use the same licence key.
What each permission is for
| Google's wording (may vary) | What Calendar Timesheet does with it |
|---|---|
| See, edit, create and delete only the specific Google Sheets spreadsheets that you use with this app | Writes its tabs in this spreadsheet only |
| View events on all your calendars, and see the list of Google calendars you're subscribed to | Reads the calendars you tick to count hours. Read-only: it never changes your calendar |
| Display and run third-party web content in prompts and sidebars inside Google applications | Shows its panel |
| Allow this application to run when you are not present | Updates the sheet every hour and closes the month on the 1st |
| Connect to an external service | Checks your licence key with Gumroad, and nothing else |
| Send email as you | Sends the monthly summary and alerts to you only |
| See your primary Google Account email address | Knows where to send your summary |

Good to know
- Your copy does not update itself. When a new version comes out, it is announced on this site and in the add-on's panel, and you can make a fresh copy.
- When the Marketplace version is live, your licence works there too. Its settings are made again in the 3-minute setup; your existing statements stay in your sheet.
